NEEDS: The Kings really could use another proven blueliner to log heavy minutes. Jonathan Quick and Darcy Kuemper are approaching career-best seasons and would appreciate the reinforcement.

AVAILABILITY: With an aging roster, L.A. can’t afford to part with youth, but draft picks are always fair game.

UFAs: D. Kuemper (G), T. Mitchell (RW), C. Folin (D)

TRADE BAIT: The Kings invested a lot of time and patience in developing 2010 firstrounder Derek Forbort, and he’s playing north of 21 minutes in his second NHL season. But if L.A. sees his future on the third pair, maybe there’s a team with a small blueline who might overpay for the towering behemoth with the expectation he’s a top-four rearguard.
