NHL READINESS

-

HUGHES IS 10 MONTHS older, so that inherently gives him an edge. He’s also played a year of college hockey and appeared in the world juniors, while Boqvist has played primarily junior hockey in Sweden, seeing only spot duty in the men’s league. That said, neither is seen as being immediately NHL-ready. They both have a lot of filling out to do. “Boqvist has more tools, and he’s bigger, but his game is so young and he is so immature the way he plays,” said one scout. “If you can truly get to Boqvist, he’ll be a better player, but I don’t know if you can truly get to Boqvist.” Another scout concurred. “Whoever drafts Boqvist is going to have couple years of real growing pains,” he said, “and then you’ll see the reward.” EDGE: HUGHES
