BRUINS

BOSTON

-

The Bruins gave up a king’s ransom to acquire RICK NASH from the New York Rangers at the trade deadline, but it didn’t exactly work out as planned. Regarded primarily as a rental for the stretch drive and playoffs, the right winger probably didn’t do enough to warrant the Bruins locking him into a long-term, big-money deal at 34 that they would have trouble affording. Riley Nash turned out to be a versatile, two-way center and will command a large raise as a UFA, while backup goalie Anton Khudobin, another UFA, had a terrific bounce-back season and gave the Bruins one of the best goaltending tandems in the regular season.
