The Flyers have their entire core locked up, so now it’s time for a culling, and it’s for the best. Say farewell to Matt Read and veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya, who was a waiver claim. The Flyers have interest in bringing back UFA Valtteri Filppula, but only if he takes a major pay cut from $5 million. Coming off an effective rookie season, RFA Robert Hagg is part of a promising young blueline and won’t be difficult to re-sign. Perhaps the most interesting case is RFA PETR MRAZEK, who ended up as the No. 3 guy in an inefficient three-headed goalie monster that also includes already-signed Brian Elliott and Michal Neuvirth. Something’s gotta give back there.
