THE SHARKS ARE bottom-feeders right now, but the rebuild was delayed by the ill-fated Erik Karlsson trade with Ottawa. San Jose did get some great skill in 2020 with Ozzy Wiesblatt, Thomas Bordeleau and Daniil Gushchin, but the real hay was made in 2021 when William Eklund was still available at No. 7 overall. Eklund has a ton of dynamic skill, and he’s mature enough to have been trusted with crucial shifts in the SHL as an 18-year-old.
