Focus on impaired drivers
QUINTE WEST — Officers from the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police ( OPP) will be focusing their efforts on reducing impaired driving throughout the city during the month of December and over the holiday season as part of their Focus Patrol program.
“The message is simple, if you choose to consume alcohol or cannabis - choose not to drive,” police stated in a media release. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal deaths in Canada, however these deaths are preventable.
The Quinte West OPP have already made several arrests for impaired driving by both alcohol and drugs during the month of December.
The motoring public can expect to see increased daily R. I. D. E programs throughout the city of Quinte West. The public’s assistance is requested in keeping our roads safe; if you suspect a driver is impaired by drug or alcohol call 911 to report it immediately. You could be responsible for saving a life.
