Reynolds named new Armani face
Actor unveiled as ambassador for brand’s fragrances
Ryan Reynolds is headlining the latest Giorgio Armani fragrances campaign as part of his new role as an ambassador for the brand.
The Vancouver- born actor was unveiled as the latest celebrity to front the luxury label on Tuesday when he was also named the face of new scent Code Absolu.
In a photo promoting the cologne, Reynolds can be seen smouldering in a sleek tuxedo, which he begins to pull off. An accompanying video promo, which was shot by The Handmaid’s Tale director Reed Morano, is set to be released next month when the product hits retailers.
In a statement, Giorgio Armani noted why the 42- year- old — best known for his comedic superhero role in Deadpool and its sequel — is the perfect choice to represent the company.
“With his status of modern male figure of self- fulfillment, Ryan Reynolds perfectly embodies the modern sensuality of the Armani Code man: someone with charisma, authenticity, an effortless style, and the right dose of irony.”
Reynolds shared his excitement over the partnership in an interview with WWD, in which he also revealed why scent is an important extension of style.
“I love Armani. I love the timelessness of the brand,” he said. “There’s something incredibly cinematic about campaigns like this, and because of that fact it feels like a natural fit.”
“Scent is important to me,” he added. “Scents can bring you back instantly to a childhood memory, a relationship, a moment in your life. They bring you back to moments of great transitions, to the moments as you grew up in the world. Scent is a very distinctive stamp. It is part of our psyche.
