Minor Atom Red Devils split weekend tilts
The Pond at Rhino Sports & Playland Minor Atom Red Devils split a pair of Eastern Triple A Hockey League games on the weekend.
Saturday in Peterborough, the Devils gave up four unanswered third period goals in a 4- 2 loss to the Petes.
Maclean Chisholm and Nate Rashotte scored for the Devils, while assists came from Grayson Hunt and Chisholm. Daniel Yeo took the loss in net.
Sunday in Madoc, the Devils got payback on the Petes, edging them 3- 2.
Chase Cybulskie, Brayden Davidson and Brody Harrison scored for Quinte, with assists to Ryan Foley, Hunt, Seth Scaletta, and Keegan Goulah. Charlie Vos was in net for the win.
The Devils head to Whitby Saturday for a 2: 15 p. m. game. Sunday they host the Oshawa Generals at 2: 15 p. m. in Madoc.
The Free Flow Petroleum Minor Midget Red Devils started the new year off with a win, defeating the Jr. Frontenacs 4- 2 Friday in the Limestone City.
After a scoreless first period Ben White sniped a goal with an assist from Erik MacNeil early in the second period. Nathaniel Burelle followed up with another goal shortly thereafter with assists from Zack Brooks and Daniel Michaud. Kingston answered back with two goals later in the second to tie up the game.
With the game winding down, late in the third Michaud scored the game winner from a long stretch pass from MacNeil and Cole Lavender. Ethan Broek netted the fourth goal from Gavin Camp. Alex Lucas was in net for the victory.
Wednesday in Oshawa, the Devils blanked the Oshawa Generals 3- 0, but scoring results were not made available.
The Devils travel to Whitby Sunday for a 5: 45 p. m. match with the Wildcats.
The Madison Excavating Major Peewee Red Devils dropped a tough 2- 1 decision to the Waxers Friday in Markham.
Quinte took a 1- 0 lead in the first period with a goal from Jared Langdon, assisted by Brody Partridge and Braedyn Rogers. The Waxers answered back two minutes later to tie it and then took the 2- 1 lead a minute later.
Both the second and third periods went scoreless as the Devils came up short. Mike McIvor was in net for the loss.
The Devils battled the Generals to a 3- 3 draw Thursday in Oshawa, but scoring details were not made available. Sunday they host the Clarington Toros at 2 p. m. at the CAA Arena.
The Foley Bus Lines Major Bantam Red Devils travelled to St. Andrews College in Aurora Sunday to take on the York Simcoe Express for their first game of 2019, and came away with a 4- 2 triumph.
The Devils would strike first and score the only goal of the opening period. In period two Quinte would find the back of the net two more times to take a 3- 0 lead heading into the third period. The Express would score twice in the third period but Quinte would add one of their own and take the game 4- 2.
Saturday the Devils host the Clarington Toros at 3: 45 p. m. at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
The McInroy Maines Construction Major Midget Red Devils stayed busy over the holidays with three games in the race for the playoffs in the parody driven East Division. The Devils took a tie, win and loss keeping pace with teams around them as the stretch drive with under 10 games left is in full swing.
On Dec. 29 at Trenton Community Gardens, the Devils battled the Whitby Wildcats to a 3- 3 tie. Karsten Leonard, Nick Kirby-Palliser and Nolan Dawson scored for Quinte, while Matt Maas made 24 saves in the tie.
Jan. 3 in Oshawa, the Devils dusted the Generals 4- 0, with Sam Dingle recording the shutout.
Khaden Henry, Kirby- Palliser, Leonard, and Kyle McMechan scored for the Devils.
On Jan. 5 in Trenton, the Devils dropped a 4- 2 loss to the Ajax-Pickering Raiders.
Kirby- Palliser and Curtis Dicks scored for Quinte.
The Devils tied the Kingston Jr. Frontenacs 2- 2 Tuesday in Deseronto, but scoring details were not available. They host the Clarington Toros Saturday at 7: 30 p. m. in Trenton.
The Walsh Fencing Novice Red Devils dropped a 3- 1 decision to the Petes Saturday in Peterborough.
Ryder Hooey scored the lone goal for Quinte from Drew Wright, while Ryerson Swan took the loss in net.
Sunday in Little Britain, the Devils trounced the Central Ontario Wolves 9- 3.
Liam Marion, Logan Broek and Mason VanHuizen each scored twice for the Devils, while Maeve Aird, Easton Thompson and Trent Clow each scored once. Assists came from Thompson ( 2), Brady Shepherd ( 2), Clow ( 2), Marion ( 2), Brechyn Aird, and VanHuizen. Nathan McDonald earned the win in net.
The Devils host the Whitby Wildcats Sunday at 1 p. m. in Madoc.
