Birdwatchers who missed the annual Waterfowl Weekend at Presqu’ile Provincial Park earlier this spring, have another opportunity during Warblers and Whimbrels Weekend, May 18th and 19th.

Presqu’ile staff and volunteers are welcoming the community to join them for Warblers and Whimbrels in celebration of the spring migration of smaller birds, such as warblers, and the shorebirds, like Whimbrel, annually making a stop at the popular resting destination, Presqu’ile Park, that offers essential nutrients and rest that are needed before the birds head further north.

Naturalists are excited to speak and share their knowledge with those new to birding and experienced watchers alike on guided bird walks.

The Lighthouse Interpretive Centre will be open from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. both days with displays and naturalist volunteers to share knowledge and help guide attendees.

The Friends of Presqu’ile Gift Shop will be open Saturday and Sunday, hosting a fundraising barbecue lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A detailed schedule of planned events and demonstrations will be posted on the park’s social media channels, on the Friends of Presqu’ile website, and on signage posted throughout the park. If you are interested in getting involved, Friends of Presqu’ile Park is a charitable organization devoted to preserving and protecting the natural heritage of Presqu’ile Provincial Park. Their mission is to enhance the education provided for park attendees, assist during park activities, and provide funding for selected educational and environmental projects.
