Denis Shapovalov’s big move

The Kids Post - - Extracuricular -

After defeating Rafael Nadal at the Roger’s Cup last month, Richmond Hill teen Denis Shapovalov dropped to the court, partly out of shock and partly in celebration. The magnitude of his win sent reverberations across the country. By winning his next game, Shapovalov became the youngest player to ever reach a semifinal at the Masters Series, ahead of future champions of the game such as Michael Chang and Richard Gasquet. And, in so doing, herded countless youngsters to their local courts to follow in the already sizable footsteps of the next big thing in Canadian tennis. Playing opportunities abound from public courts, to public-private neighbourhood facilites and private racquet clubs. Who knows where the next phenom will be found.
