Girls All Star Soc­cer Teams bring back sil­ver

Both the Un­der 14 Girls and Un­der 17 Girls All Star Soc­cer Teams from Happy Val­leyGoose Bay were in Har­bour Grace Aug. 11-12 com­pet­ing in their re­spec­tive All-Star Soc­cer Tour­na­ments.

In what can be very well con­sid­ered a suc­cess­ful out­come for both teams by qual­i­fy­ing for the Di­vi­sion A Group matches af­ter the com­ple­tion of the pre­lim­i­nary round but mak­ing the Cham­pi­onship Fi­nal where un­for­tu­nately, both teams had to set­tle for the Sil­ver Medal and the Run­ner Up Tro­phy.

Trevor Paine, the Co-Pres­i­dent of the Happy Val­ley-Goose Bay Mi­nor Soc­cer As­so­ci­a­tion told the Labradorian that this was an amaz­ing Sum­mer for lo­cal All-Star play­ers thus far, with three teams still left to travel across to the Is­land for their tour­na­ments.

“The U14 Girls went three wins and a loss to com­pete in the ‘A’ di­vi­sion Fi­nal los­ing to PYSA 3-1 while the U17 Girls went two wins and a tie be­fore los­ing to CBN Light­en­ing 2-0 in the ‘A’ di­vi­sion fi­nal, both win­ning Sil­ver medals”.

“I would like to thank the coach­ing staff and man­agers and to the par­ents that trav­elled giv­ing us great sup­port and wish the Un­der 12 Boys and Girls along with the Un­der 17 Boys all the best in their up­com­ing tour­na­ments”, said Paine.
