Plan not credible
regarding the Point of View Ontario has credible climate
change plan (Dec. 3). really? A “credible” climate plan would believable and convincing. It would be evidencebased. Climate change scientists and the vast majority of economists would agree with it.
regrettably, the government of Ontario Premier Doug Ford has dismissed the most important (and credible) policy proposal on which experts around the world agree, namely pricing carbon pollution.
Instead of making all polluters pay, and returning the proceeds to citizens (as the feds would do), Ford would have taxpayers pay industry to reduce their emissions. We can only hope Ford and his various provincial cronies lose their various taxpayerfunded lawsuits against the federal carbon tax.
And furthermore: since when was improving our air quality and health by getting rid of coal-fired power generation a bad idea? And when did we give up on preserving a livable world for our children? We need aspirational goals and visionary leaders, not resigned helplessness. Elaine Blacklock Sudbury
