University Bridge

The London Free Press - - COMMENT -

Regarding the article University Drive Bridge will reopen to motor vehicles on March 1 (Jan. 11).

If I can make the same point I made a few months ago, the University Drive bridge is not a “shortcut.” There is no cross street between Richmond Street and Wonderland Road in the five-kilometre stretch from Oxford Street to Fanshawe Park Road. Until such time as the city merges Windermere and Gainsborough roads, commuters will continue to use the university as an alternate to the already clogged Oxford and Fanshawe Park. Most of the commuters pay taxes at three levels to support this university and feel that we have as much right to use the property as anyone else.
