Whitecourt welcomes a new director of infrastructure

The Town of Whitecourt is pleased to announce the appointment of Kamruz Zaman as the new Director of Infrastructure.

As the Director of Infrastructure, Mr. Zaman will oversee public works operations; fleet maintenance; infrastructure and road maintenance operations; utilities operations; engineering services; parks and open spaces maintenance; and the Whitecourt Cemetery.

“I enjoy working with the municipal government and want to be a part of the community where I can see the impact of my efforts incorporated throughout the community,” stated Mr. Zaman. “I am excited to be a member of the Whitecourt community where I would like to utilize my engineering expertise for the implementation of the Town’s infrastructure in a timely, cost effective, safe, and sustainable manner.”

The skills and proficiency Kamruz has developed during his years of professional engineering experience

are extensive. His background i cludes municipal infrastructure engineering, planning, design, construction and project management. He achieved his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 2008 from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec.

“Kamruz brings a wealth of municipal engineering experience to our organization, and will be starting his new position in April,“added Peter Smyl, Chief Administrative Officer. “I welcome Kamruz and his family to Whitecourt, and look forward to working with him as part of our senior management team.”
