Joint initiative between Stony Plain RCMP and Edmonton Police Service results in arrests
On August 30, 2018, as a result of an investigation which started in Stony Plain, the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove/ Enoch Drug Section, with the assistance of the Edmonton Police Tactical Team and Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement Team (EDGE), executed a search warrant at a hotel in the city of Edmonton. The Edge Clan Lab Team helped process the contaminated exhibits. The individuals inside were arrested without incident, and taken into custody. During the search of the room, Drug Section members seized 44 grams of methamphetamine, 26 grams of fentanyl, $7140.00 in cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Curtis FRASIER, 37 years old, of Edmonton, Alberta and Kevin GAMLIN, 38 years old, of Spruce Grove, Alberta were both charged with:
• possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
• possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
• possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
• and other charges relating to failing to comply with a recognizance and outstanding warrants.
Both were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on September 19, 2018.
Inspector Mike Lokken of the Stony Plain/ Spruce Grove/Enoch RCMP stated, “This is a great demonstration of intelligence sharing and collaboration between two partner police forces. Criminals know no borders and by working together, both forces help prevent future crimes.”
