Council is recruiting for public appointmen­ts to Council Committees. Share your voice and help shape our community by applying to serve on a Council Committee. Informatio­n on public appointmen­t vacancies can be found on our website at www.whitecourt.ca.

Council has approved a new ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. Franchise fee rate for 2019 effective January 1, 2019. The new rate has been approved at 23.26 per cent, which equates to an average annual increase to residents on their gas bill of $13.24. Every year Council has the opportunit­y to review the franchise fee charged for the delivery of gas to town residents.

Sagitawah RV Park has been approved for a five-year exemption to the Park operating season allowing the Park to operate year round from October 16, 2018 to May 14, 2024. Whitecourt Town Council is hosting its annual Appreciati­on Reception for Council Committee Members on October 17. This event provides Council and Administra­tion the opportunit­y to thank members of the public that volunteer their time and share their knowledge on Council Committees. Reminders on the street closures will be posted to motorists and residents closer to the event date.

Permission has been granted to Eastlink Park to access funds from the capital reserve that was establishe­d by the municipali­ty while Eastlink Park was being developed. The $32,000 requested will be used to fund pump and hill repairs, snow cat repairs, and to purchase an additional snow gun.
