Wood­lands County has pro­vided no­tice to the Town of White­court to ter­mi­nate the In­ter­mu­nic­i­pal Cost Shar­ing Con­tri­bu­tion Agree­ment. White­court ac­knowl­edges re­ceipt of no­tice, and in ac­cor­dance with the agree­ment, ef­fec­tive Jan­uary 1, 2020 the cur­rent cost shar­ing agree­ment will con­clude. The 2018 Project List, which in­cludes 160 projects, has been up­dated and is avail­able for view­ing on www.white­court.ca. One of the projects in­cluded in the doc­u­ment is the Scott Safety Cen­tre roof and ceil­ing re­place­ment project for the Athabasca Rink. This project be­gan in Septem­ber, but was de­layed due to in­clement weather. In or­der to en­sure there are no in­ter­rup­tions to the 2018/2019 hockey sea­son, com­ple­tion of the project has been de­ferred to March 2019.

The Fi­nan­cial Report up to Septem­ber 20, 2018 was pre­sented to Coun­cil and is avail­able for view­ing on www.white­court.ca.

In re­sponse to a story pub­lished on Global Ed­mon­ton about prop­erty taxes through­out Al­berta, White­court pre­pared a report of how our com­mu­nity com­pares to mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties fea­tured in the news ar­ti­cle. The com­par­i­son in­cludes mu­nic­i­pal taxes, fran­chise fees, and util­ity fees. To see the doc­u­ment, visit www. white­court.ca and search ‘Re­ports’. Novem­ber is Fam­ily Vi­o­lence Pre­ven­tion Month in Al­berta. The White­court Fam­ily Vi­o­lence Ini­tia­tive hosted sev­eral events in the last few weeks in recog­ni­tion of this spe­cial month, and com­mu­nity mem­bers should watch for pur­ple lights and red sil­hou­ettes around town in sup­port of Fam­ily Vi­o­lence Pre­ven­tion Month.
