Edson Town Council updates

Planes Landing Area Structure Plan. Council has given first reading to Bylaw 2247, to repeal the Anderson Area Structure Plan and adopt the Planes Landing Areas Structure Plan. This is for the purpose of a mobile home subdivision on lands on the west side of 63rd street. It was noted that a substantial amount of feedback has been received in writing and at a private open house held by the developer. A public hearing has been set for July 21st, 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this public hearing will be held virtually. Details will be made available on our website and through local advertising.

Planes Landing Rezoning. First reading has been given to Bylaw 2248, to rezone the land for the above noted subdivision from Low Density Multiple Family Residential (R-2) to Mobile

Home Subdivision (R-MHS). A public hearing has been set for July 21st, 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this public hearing will be held virtually. Details will be made available on our website and through local advertising.

Notice of Decision. A notice of decision was approved for a new accessory building and two existing accessory buildings on 66th Street and 17th Avenue. The matter required Council approval as the land is zoned as Direct Control.

Landfill Rate Changes. In order to better align with recent changes at the Edson Landfill, Council has approved an adjustment to the construction/ demolition material charges. The fee is now set at $30.00/ tonne for all users. Previously there were separate fees for Town and County users. It was also noted that a full review of charges is underway, and a report will be brought to Council in the coming months.

Appointments. Council has appointed Trisha Papke as the designated Clerk for the West Yellowhead Regional Assessment Review Board for a one-year term starting June 16th, 2020. Council has also appointed Julia Darling as a Development Officer for the Town of Edson.
