ALUS Lac Ste. Anne – Looking for new participants

-

The Alternative Land 8se Services AL8S program is looking for agricultural producers in Lac Ste. Anne County The AL8S program is designed to support local farmers in creating conservation proMect on their farm, without disrupting day to day farm operations. This often looks like: resting marginal land and leaving it for the wildlife, fencing off creeks and wetlands to keep livestock out, and planting native trees and shrubs. The AL8S program cost shares these proMects, providing 3 per meter of fencing and

3,750 towards alternate watering systems. The program is completely voluntary and the farmer retains ownership of the land and nothing goes on title.

'espite CO9,', 2020 was very successful for the Lac Ste. Anne AL8S program. :e enrolled 160 acres with 7 new participants and protect wetlands, riparian areas and mature forests. :e helped establish 5.7km of fencing and 5 new watering systems. :e are grateful for farmers’ commitment to growing locally produced, wholesome food while taking good care of the environment. ,f you think a proMect like this could fit into your farm, please reach out to Megan at 780-203-2 66 cell or 780-785-3411 office or alus#lsac.ca email .
