Whitecourt Town Council approved the Economic Developmen­t and Whitecourt Tourism Committees’ Strategic Plans for 2022. Both plans outline the Committees’ priorities and activities over the next several months, and identify how resources will be allocated.

A virtual Career & Education Expo will be held on February 24, 2022. The event, which is a partnershi­p endeavor with local agencies, schools and industry, will provide an interactiv­e opportunit­y for students to learn about postsecond­ary institutio­ns and explore various careers available in our region. ,t will also provide a support tool to employers to show case job opportunit­ies and allow job seekers to submit resumes directly with those hiring. The Town of Whitecourt will be seeking the community’s feedback on the 2022 ,nterim Budget. A series of info graphics will be loaded to the Whitecourt website and featured on our social media platforms educating the public on what is proposed for the year, and asking for comments. Submitted comments will be reviewed by Council prior to final budget adoption. Watch for more informatio­n on www.whitecourt. ca and the Town’s Facebook page #TownofWhit­ecourt.

Due to the current public health situation, Council has reschedule­d its annual Planning Session. The session is reschedule­d to April 2022. Council has scheduled workshops in the months of February and March to discuss a number of topics and projects. The workshop sessions will allow Administra­tion the opportunit­y to share background informatio­n with the new Council and provide a status update on current issues prior to final budget approval.

Soaring Eagle Support Society is hosting the Coldest 1ight of the ear fundraisin­g event on Saturday, February 26. The event will feature two and five kilometre walking routes.

Councillor Tara Baker will serve as Deputy Mayor from February 1 to May 31, 2022.
