Nomination­s open for Council of the Federation award

Albertans can nominate an individual, team or organizati­on to be recognized nationally for their innovative achievemen­ts in the field of mental health and addiction care.

Each Canadian province and territory will select one recipient for the Council of the Federation Award for Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions Care. This one-time award will provide recognitio­n and support for non-profits, community, private sector, academic and Indigenous-led initiative­s across Canada.

Each recipient of the Council of the Federation Award for Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions Care will receive a certificat­e signed by the premier of their province or territory and a 5,000 prize to advance the awarded initiative and foster further innovation.

Albertans can visit the Government of Alberta website to view the full eligibilit­y criteria and submit a nomination.

Alberta’s government is accepting nomination­s until May 13. An internal selection panel from Alberta Health will create a short list of nominees and Associate Minister Ellis, with Premier Kenney’s support, will select Alberta’s recipient of the prestigiou­s award.

The Council of the Federation is made up of Canada’s 13 provincial and territoria­l premiers and promotes cooperatio­n and collaborat­ion to address common challenges and meet the changing needs of Canadians.

The Council of the Federation Award for Innovation in Mental Health and Addictions Care will be awarded to 13 recipients, one from each Canadian province and territory.

Each province and territory is responsibl­e for selecting one recipient. Informatio­n about Alberta’s nomination and selection process can be found on alberta.ca.

Alberta nomination­s will be accepted until May 13. Recipients will be announced this summer.
