Hodge Podge Goodbye Pepper girl

- by June McInnes June McInnes

Last night we lost a much loved family pet, Pepper. Our old pussycat was more than a pet, she was family.

We knew she was under par, but she was healthy and ate very well, she was still the sweet girl we always knew and loved, the only thing different was her age.

It’s true she did have a touch of dementia but it came and went, she was never dirty or nasty, not once in her whole life did she ever bite or scratch any of us, not even when she was scared by something.

When she started to lose a little weight she had her usual trip to the vet for a check up. He gave her the all clear and my sweet husband suggested we buy her some soft cat food, the pâtés they make, she loved them and quickly became addicted. She would eat one of those small punnets in less than a minute, then sit back and purr.

They were the best thing she’d ever eaten ? all her life we gave her real chicken or fish tidbits, she knew what she liked.

She will be greatly missed, all of us loved her. She was one of a kind in heart.

She had a twin brother called Midge and they were so close, when he died two years ago she never really got over it and would look for him every day. Perhaps now she will be happy as our son Simon is going to bury them side by side this morning.

It will be a very sad moment to say goodbye to her. But she’ll be in the garden she loved so much.

She was a true and sweet kind natured cat, never mean as I said, always washing and very clean. And loved a cuddle. We will all miss her very much. She had a lot of nicknames, Pepper girl, Toots, foxy Cleopatra, little lady ,miss Tibbs, Jammer, fluff bag Pepper girl and little fluff, she came to them all, looking for hugs and fuzzies, she was an angel.

Goodbye Pepper, we still love you and will miss you terribly.
