Board Messages
The Board of Trustees had the opportunity to review the annual student survey summary provided to them by Associate Superintendent Courtney Lawrance at the April Board Meeting. The Living Waters Student Survey records the responses of Grade 3, 5, 8 and 11 students across the division. The survey is administered in October and March each year. The survey results point to the good work being done in our schools as well as the challenges of the postpandemic era. The survey data informs the education plans at the school and divisional levels as well as provides opportunities for further engagement.
The Board of Trustees value the importance of meeting with different stakeholder groups in each community, and took the opportunity to meet with Edson Town Councillors and the Parish Council of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edson. The Board took the opportunity to communicate the great work that is happening specific to our Catholic schools in Edson and then engaged with both the town and the parish councils in sharing ideas on ways to increase opportunities to work more collaboratively and creatively to enhance opportunities for our staff and students in Edson. The Board of Trustees plan to meet with the Slave Lake Town Council and St. Peter Celestin Parish Council in May, and Whitecourt Town Council and St. Joseph Parish Council in June.
In preparing the Division’s strategic plan for its May 31 submission to Alberta Education, the Board of Living Waters had the opportunity to listen to School Education Plans from every school across the Division on April 25. In addition to these presentations, the Board reviewed the DRAFT Living Water’s Blueprint for the Future 5.3, the DRAFT Living Waters Education Plan 2022- 2025 and the DRAFT Engagement Communique. Board Chair Dana Kentner, along with all ward trustees, were extremely impressed and inspired by the schools’ focus and commitment to continuous improvement, and look forward to seeing the plans come to fruition. The Board will be reviewing the final submission of the Division’s Education Plan at their May meeting of the Board, prior to approving it for submission to Alberta Education.
