Over 80K raised for IQRA High School Project Adjacent land
On Nov 26, Iqra Islamic School re-presented an adjacent property at 96A Ave x 168 St, Fleetwood, Surrey plan of High School project to the community members in a fundraising dinner at Bombay Banquet Hall in Surrey. Iqra is an elementary junior high School (accredited by the Ministry of Education BC) and serves almost 434 students. The event was conducted with opening remarks by MC Talha Khan Khadija Raja. The program began with beautiful recitation by Walid Zubair and Ainy Mohamed did the English translation. The children presentation program was conducted by students Maria Cheema Faseeh Irfan. Performance by students from many grades reflected a very high standard of Arabic and Islamic program at the school. The sequences of presentation were as fallows: • Canadaian Anthem led by Gr, 3-Gr, 7 students • “The Rise of a New Generation ”followed by ”Be Yourself “presented by Gr, 7
• “Make a Difference” presented by KG,1 2 and Gr,1 Div 2 • “The Alphabet Letter in A Sign Language” presented by Gr,1 Div 1 • A song “We are the World” presented by Gr,5 Div 3 Gr,2 Div 1
• A poem” Ana Muslim”( I am a Muslim) by Omar Ahmed Gr,5 Div 3
• “Geniouys Hours video” shared by Gr, 3
• “Qiyam”( Our Values) is presented by Gr, 6
• “A ‘maluna Afa’ alona” (Our Deed is our Life) by Gr,4
• “We are the Future” presented by Gr, 5 Div 1-2, Fr,5 Div 2 KG Div.3
• Presenting the Spelling Bee winners. Ms. Randa El-Khatib the acting Principal of the school, welcomed all the attendees and read the Iqra School over all progress and said from 1998 till the day Iqra has been acheieving one mile stone from another. She also remembered late Br Abu Bakr Ali who had a vision that there will be another Muslim school where teachers will be able to perform at their full capacity. “Today his vision has been achieved.” Br. Bilal Cheema (President of Fleetwood Port Kells (Liberal Chapter) as a proud parent was very happy to send his son in this school and he appriciated the IQRA school activities since 1998. Surrey-Central MP Randeep Sarai, MLA Harry Bains and, MLA Brue Ralston were also invited at the stage.All they admired the Iqra school efforts to become a Number 1 School in BC. Dr. Ali Mihirig (President) updated everyone about the High school project and announced the purchase of additional one Acre land adjacent to the current 96 Ave x 168th St Surrey , and now the Iqra school strength of students are 434 and we are proud that Iqra is still 1 Ranking in a row since past 3 years. He said finace has always been our challenge and thanked Allah (SWT) and all community members. The keynote speaker was Dr. Munir El Kassem from London (Ontario) a scholar and international speaker. Dr. delivered a beautiful speech in the light of Quran and Sunnah and encouraged all the attendees to open their hearts and donate generously for this noble educational cause. He talked about how we become slaves to the materials things in live and forget to seek happiness (pleasure difference also signified) which we wrongly associates with the the material possessions. He used his special skills and helped to raise more than $30K at the spot, however the management collected prior this event and till the end almost 88K, towards pay partial payment of adjacent land of High school project.
