AlAmeen Post newspaper and Surrey Delta Branch of the BCMA hosted All Candidates Meeting for the upcoming provincial elections. Ridings invited at the event included Surrey-Newton, Surrey-Green Timbers, and Delta-North. Br. Sikandar Hayat was the MC and Br. Sikandar Khan was the Moderator of the event. The NDP had all 3 candidates present from the 3 ridings invited: Harry Bains, Ravi Kahlon, and Rachna Singh. BC Liberals had only Brenda Locke participating, but had to leave early because of some previous engagement. She said that BC is the only province in Canada with a AAA credit rating and that shows that BC is very well managed and is in good hands. BC Green Party had two candidates who participated in the meeting: Saira Aujla and Jacquie Miller. BC Green Party candidates declared to provide free daycare to all children. Balpreet Bal is an independent candidate in the Surrey-Newton area. He believes in cooperation amongst all the elected MLAs. He showed a lot of enthusiasm and will to serve the people of his constituency. NDP candidates promised to have consultations with the local community to find out their preferences on the (mandatory) sex education in elementary school. NDP also made promises of canceling tolls on the two bridges, getting rid of MSP premiums, increasing the funding for schools and school playgrounds, and establishing $10-a-day daycare program across BC. NDP criticized the BC Liberal’s government for continuously increasing the rates for BC Hydro, ICBC, and MSP. All candidates agreed that Muslim holidays should be introduced in public schools and that Arabic as a second language should be available in Princess Margaret Secondary School and any other school where there is a sufficient population of Muslims. Miracle Note: Miracle Media congratulate Al Ameen Post and BCMA to held the BC Provincial Candidates (Surrey) Debates in Surrey Jameh Masjid. However, the candidates and their supporters attendance were more than our Muslim community attendants, which left very bad impact on all candidates. Please wakeup and come forward to show your numbers if you want your voice will be raised in Parliament.
