Five Black Belts Achieved At The Muslim Youth Centre

On September 23, the Muslim Youth Centre’s Self Defense Class had their third Taekwondo Black Belt Ceremony. Five students were presented with their 1st Degree Black Belts. They are Zaman Hanif, Tayyib and Aleena Chohan and Shahana and Shayaan Shaheem. Also, Tayyib and Aleena received certificates for being provincial champions for 2016/2017. These students are taught by Adam Ishmail, nationally certified instructor, Alia Ishmail, certified trainer and Mrs. Sue Mysynuk, Co-owner of Sonfire Taekwondo. The Muslim Youth Centre was founded in 2000 by the late Imam Asgar Husain. During his work as the BC Muslim Chaplain for the prisons, he saw the need for a safe haven for the youth.
