The Miracle

Darul Qur’an Institute organized its annual summer camp to the Okanagan Valley

-

Alhamdulillah with the help of Allah, recently Darul Qur’an Institute organized its annual summer camp to the Okanagan Valley. We had 22 students join us this year. On Friday night, the students spent I’tikaaf at the Institute and enjoyed chicken pasta for dinner. On Saturday morning we left the Madrasah and headed towards the BC interior. On the way we made various stops along the highways next to rivers where students enjoyed the scenery and got their feet wet and enjoyed the magnificent scenery! Once we reached our campsite, the students set up their tents and had burgers and hot dogs for lunch. Afterwards, the students went for a cool swim in the lake. We ended the day with BBQ chicken for dinner and s’mores before praying Isha and sleeping! On Sunday morning after praying Fajr and having breakfast, the students went gokarting, playing mini-golf, climbing high ropes and other fun activities. Students also got to ride bicycles through the small scenic town! For lunch, the students were surprised with a BBQ lunch organized by the local Muslim community led by Br. Aslam Sattar. They prepared kebabs, chicken and lamb cubes, rice, salad and Baklava. After lunch, we had a water balloon fight! Students were engaged in different activities such as swimming, baseball and some played football. By evening, the students ended their day with dinner, s’mores and praying Isha. On Monday morning after praying Fajr and having breakfast, the students packed up, cleaned their campsites and prepared for their journey home. Alhamdulillah, the students had an amazing time! During the days of camping the students prayed all 5 daily Salah and remembered Allah. During the entire trip, the students remained occupied and busy enjoying the outdoors. The staff of Darul Qur’an Institute believes that we are fortunate to live in a beautiful country and we should enjoy it by exploring the great outdoors while remembering Allah. As Allah mentions in the Holy Qur’an: Say: “Travel through the earth and see how Allah did originate creation; so will Allah produce a later creation: for Allah has power over all things. (Surah Al-‘Ankabut, 20) We do this to remind ourselves that a place of learning is not just about books, but a place to experience new things and ideas and to create happy memories that will last a lifetime. May Allah accept our humble efforts, Aameen. Staff of Darul Qur’an Institute of Islamic Studies May Allah reward the community for their Duaas and support and the following volunteers for joining us and their assistance: Shaykh Islamullah, Imam of Abbotsford Masjid Br Tahir Sattar of Surrey Br Khalid of Abbotsford Br Aslam Sattar of Penticton #BC Parks #Allah’s creation #Camping
