Around 80. raised for IQRA High School

2n 1ov , Iqra Islamic School invited its Iqra family of students, parents, alumni and other supporters to raise funds for the high school proMect, an adMacent property at A Ave St, in ) leetwood, Surrey. The fundraising dinner was held at ombay anquet Hall in Surrey. Iqra is an elementary & Munior high School (accredited by the Ministry of Education C) and serves more than students. 2pening remarks were made by Ammar Malick & Sarah amal El-Dean. The program began with beautiful recitation of Holy 4uran by Hassan Ahmed and translation by Syed Ibrahim. )ollowing the recitation, Sarah Jassim & Shiffa Yaqub conducted the student presentation program filling it with humor at times. Performance by students from many grades reflected a very high standard of Arabic and Islamic program at the school. Presentation included “Seven Days of the weeks” in Arabic presented by KG Div.1-2&3 “Meaning of Sura Al Fathiha” presented by Gr, One Div.1-2&3 “We Love Learning” presented by Gr, Two Div.1&2 “I Promise” by Gr, Three Div.1&2 “What they are Grateful for” in Arabic by Gr, Four Div.1&2 “An Anti-Bullying show” presented by Gr, Five Div.1&2 “Rahmatuan lel alameen” Gr, Six Div.1-2&3 “Salatul Fajr” presented by Gr, Seven Div.1&2 Ms. Randa El-Khatib the Principal of the school, welcomed all the attendees and instead of a traditional progress update, Ms. Khatib invited students on the stage to share their e periences at Iqra. A short video by students was also presented highlighting what they like about their school. MA ruce Ralston was also invited on the stage and he admired the school’s efforts and contributions to the community. MPs Ken Hardy and Randeep Sarai read the message of Justin Trudeau , Prime Minister of Canada, for Iqra School. Dr. Ali Mihirig (President) updated everyone about the High school proMect and asked everyone to continue their support. The keynote speaker was Dr. Munir El Kassem from ondon (2ntario), a prominent scholar and international speaker. Dr. El Kassem delivered a beautiful speech in the light of 4uran and Sunnah and encouraged all the attendees to open their hearts and donate generously for this noble educational cause. He talked about how we become slaves to the materials things in live and forget to seek happiness (pleasure difference also signified) which we wrongly associate with the material possessions. He used his special skills and helped to raise close to K at the spot.
