Azhar Syed (Miracle’s Editorial Board Member)

Azhar Syed was born and educated in India. He immigrated to Pakistan in 1952 and then to Canada in 1973. He and his family have lived in BC since they arrived in Canada. Azhar worked as Production Manager for a leading publishing house and advertising agency in Karachi, Pakistan. In Vancouver he served as Purchasing Manager for Behnsen Graphic Supplies Ltd. for 18 years before taking early retirement. In 1991 he joined hands with his wife to run a family daycare in Richmond. They closed the daycare in 2002 to retire. Azhar has spent all his years in Canada working on building the Muslim community and in forging ties between the Muslim community and other communities in Canada. He has been a volunteer community organizer, educator and Imam. He has worked on various committees at different levels of many local and national Muslim organizations. Azhar is also a registered marriage officer. He has educated himself in Islam by studying the Qur’an and renowned authors, both old and contemporary. He still makes himself available for a good cause. His interest to serve the community brought him close to The Miracle and he joined its Editorial Board. His contribution is more on the getup and presentation of the Paper. He also advises on community issues.
