Pakistan Canada Association celebrates Pakistan Day
On March 23, the Pakistan-Canada Association (PCA) held a celebration event for the 78th Republic Day of Pakistan in Taj Convention Park Centre Surrey. For the past 50 years PakistanCanada Association has been holding events marking this important day in our nation’s history. This Pakistan Day event for the community was attended by a large number of people. The event began with opening remarks from MC Umar Hayat Sofi director of PCA on Pakistan Day, followed by the recitation of Quran with English translation. Afterwards, the national anthems of both Pakistan and Canada were beautifully played, which was praised by the prominent guests of the event. After Magrub prayer Hon. MLA Bruce Ralston, MLA: Hon. Harry Bains and MLA Rachna Singh addressed and presented a plaque to PCA President from BC Premier. Mr. Hayat then invited the Consul Mr. Fahad Amjad, to address the community at this 78th Republic Day of Pakistan. Mr. Shaukat Khan President PCA highlighted the Resolution of Pakistan. On behalf of the association, Mr. Khan acknowledged all special guests, and all PCA past and present board of directors for their volunteer’s services for the community for last 50 years and distributed awards among them, included: Mr. Shafat Bajwa, Mr. Sabir Pannun, (his daughter received his award due to his illness) Mr. Malik Arfan and Mr. Haroon Khan. Mr. Harpreet Singh introduced the recent launched book “The last Salute” written by The Miracle founder Mr. Nusrat Hussain at the stage and requested to buy it. Mr. Hussain thanked the audience and said to read in this book my experiences in Pakistan Air Force Service. Former Pakistan Field Hockey Team Captain (2011-15) full back position player) Mr. Muhammad Imran was also invited at this event. After Dinner a Musical night announced.
