Asian Games 2018: Pakistan beat Malaysia to extend Asian Games 2018 hockey streak

Pakistan beat Malaysia 4-1 in its Asian Games 2018 Pool B hockey fixture on Sunday evening. This was Pakistan’s fourth consecutiv­e win in the tournament. Muhammad Irfan put Pakistan ahead in the sixth minute after scoring from a penalty corner. Malaysia equalised as Faiz Helmi Jali turned the penalty corner into a goal in the 10th minute of the game.The green shirts broke the deadlock in the 38th minute as Ajaz Ahmad scored a field goal. Mubashar Ali made it 3-1 for Pakistan he scored via penalty corner. The game went out of Malaysia’s reach when Ajaz Ahmad scored Pakistan’s fourth and his second goal of the match in the 48th minute. Pakistan started off their Asian Games 2018 hockey campaign with a 10-0 win over Thailand. They went on to beat Oman by 10-0. They trounced Kazakhstan by 16-0 in their third match of the games. Pakistan are placed on top of Pool B with 12 points while Malaysia and Bangladesh are at second at third place with nine points each respective­ly. They will play against Bangladesh in their fifth and last match of the round-robin stage on August 28.
