In , the Par­lia­ment of Canada en­acted 2cto­ber as IS­LAMIC HIST25 M2NTH with the ob­jec­tive to hon­our Mus­lim Cana­dian com­mu­nity and rec­og­nize their valu­able con­tri­bu­tion in shap­ing and build­ing our mother land Canada. This year marks the th year of celebrating 2cto­ber as Is­lamic His­tory month (IHM) across Canada. Masjid Al Salaam (duca­tion Cen­ter BC Mus­lim As­so­ci­a­tion has an­nu­ally pro­claimed IHM since . The City Coun­cils from mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties across lower main­land also is­sued procla­ma­tion sup­port­ing the im­por­tant of IHM and rec­og­nized the con­tribut­ing role of Cana­dian Mus­lims across our coun­try in gen­eral and in Bri­tish Columbia in par­tic­u­lar. .eep­ing this ob­jec­tive as guid­ing prin­ci­ple, the Masjid Al Salaam (duca­tion Cen­ter’s Burn­aby or­ga­nized an (vent on 2cto­ber th to cel­e­brate, in­form, ed­u­cate and share with fel­low Cana­dian the rich Mus­lim her­itage and con­tri­bu­tion of Cana­dian Born Mus­lim in our so­ci­ety. Masjid Al Salaam is of the view that through education and shar­ing suc­cess sto­ries, all Cana­dian can thrive, pros­per and make our home­land as an ex­am­ple of har­mony for the rest of the :orld. The event started at : pm where ap­prox­i­mately plus au­di­ence from the Lower Main­land rep­re­sent­ing var­i­ous cul­tures, faith groups, City Coun­cilors and of­fi­cials gath­ered to mark this his­toric oc­ca­sion. Shaykh aood was the in­vited speaker for the main event and does not reTuire an in­tro­duc­tion. Cana­dian Born Mus­lims and Their Im­pact on Canada 2ct This event was the pin­na­cle of IHM at Lower Main­land and where Shaykh aood cap­ti­vated the au­di­ence with his talk on Cana­dian Born Mus­lims and Legacy which we are aim­ing to cre­ate for our next gen­er­a­tions. He elab­o­rated the im­por­tance of let go of our cul­tural bag­gages and work for the bet­ter­ment of our home land - in the light of the Holy 4uran and teach­ing of Prophet Mo­ham­mad (PB8H) which pro­vide ac­tion plans for cre­at­ing ben­e­fits for the en­tire hu­man­ity. The City of Lac La Biche Al­berta is a thriv­ing role model for en­tire Canada where Mus­lims have pos­i­tively and ef­fec­tively con­trib­uted to the econ­omy, cul­ture and so­ci­ety for last years. :e are proud of our con­tri­bu­tion to our com­mu­ni­ties and work­ing with our fel­low res­i­dence in mak­ing Canada a place of tranTuil­ity, pros­per­ity and har­mony for our gen­er­a­tions to come. :e pray that may od help us in this on­go­ing en­deavor, Ameen. The talk was fol­lowed by 4 A ses­sion where au­di­ence praised Masjid Al Salaam’s man­age­ment for or­ga­niz­ing such a ben­e­fi­cial event and brings our di­verse com­mu­nity un­der one roof. Masjid Al Salaam (duca­tion Cen­ter works with di­verse com­mu­nity in Lower Main­land with its pol­icy of “2P(N 225S, 2P(N H(A5TS, 2P(N MIN S”. A healthy and gen­er­ous din­ner was served at the end of the talk. Hang­out with Youth Part 2.0– Oct 14 2n 2cto­ber th, a youth only break­fast cum work­shop was con­ducted by Shaykh aood where par­tic­i­pants en­joyed a full course Cana­dian break­fast cour­tesy of Chef Mah­mood Chef Hus­sain. Shaykh en­gaged the youth in var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties and pro­vided plat­form for youth to dis­cuss top­ics that are rel­e­vant to them. The outh can­didly dis­cussed im­pact they can cre­ate in so­ci­ety. Shaykh aood stated that we can cre­ate a huge im­pact by re­duc­ing food waste. He showed a video about PA PA a dish made from left­over food that was col­lected from garbage sites, cleaned and cooked so that peo­ple in slumps of Philip­pines can have at least one meal a day. In Canada we take food for granted and waste a lot. :e can have huge im­pact by stop wast­ing food in our in­di­vid­ual ca­pac­ity from N2: The youth also dis­cussed ap­proach to­ward sub­stance and le­gal­iza­tion of cannabis. Shaykh aood guided the youth about teach­ing of Is­lam on this sub­ject and im­por­tance of avoid­ing things which in­tox­i­cated the body, mind and harm­ful for in­di­vid­ual and the fel­lows. More than youths from Burn­aby, Sur­rey and Tri city at­tended this work­shop and ex­pressed de­sire to have such ses­sions on an on­go­ing ba­sis.
