In , the Parliament of Canada enacted 2ctober as ISLAMIC HIST25 M2NTH with the objective to honour Muslim Canadian community and recognize their valuable contributi­on in shaping and building our mother land Canada. This year marks the th year of celebratin­g 2ctober as Islamic History month (IHM) across Canada. Masjid Al Salaam (ducation Center BC Muslim Associatio­n has annually proclaimed IHM since . The City Councils from municipali­ties across lower mainland also issued proclamati­on supporting the important of IHM and recognized the contributi­ng role of Canadian Muslims across our country in general and in British Columbia in particular. .eeping this objective as guiding principle, the Masjid Al Salaam (ducation Center’s Burnaby organized an (vent on 2ctober th to celebrate, inform, educate and share with fellow Canadian the rich Muslim heritage and contributi­on of Canadian Born Muslim in our society. Masjid Al Salaam is of the view that through education and sharing success stories, all Canadian can thrive, prosper and make our homeland as an example of harmony for the rest of the :orld. The event started at : pm where approximat­ely plus audience from the Lower Mainland representi­ng various cultures, faith groups, City Councilors and officials gathered to mark this historic occasion. Shaykh aood was the invited speaker for the main event and does not reTuire an introducti­on. Canadian Born Muslims and Their Impact on Canada 2ct This event was the pinnacle of IHM at Lower Mainland and where Shaykh aood captivated the audience with his talk on Canadian Born Muslims and Legacy which we are aiming to create for our next generation­s. He elaborated the importance of let go of our cultural baggages and work for the betterment of our home land - in the light of the Holy 4uran and teaching of Prophet Mohammad (PB8H) which provide action plans for creating benefits for the entire humanity. The City of Lac La Biche Alberta is a thriving role model for entire Canada where Muslims have positively and effectivel­y contribute­d to the economy, culture and society for last years. :e are proud of our contributi­on to our communitie­s and working with our fellow residence in making Canada a place of tranTuilit­y, prosperity and harmony for our generation­s to come. :e pray that may od help us in this ongoing endeavor, Ameen. The talk was followed by 4 A session where audience praised Masjid Al Salaam’s management for organizing such a beneficial event and brings our diverse community under one roof. Masjid Al Salaam (ducation Center works with diverse community in Lower Mainland with its policy of “2P(N 225S, 2P(N H(A5TS, 2P(N MIN S”. A healthy and generous dinner was served at the end of the talk. Hangout with Youth Part 2.0– Oct 14 2n 2ctober th, a youth only breakfast cum workshop was conducted by Shaykh aood where participan­ts enjoyed a full course Canadian breakfast courtesy of Chef Mahmood Chef Hussain. Shaykh engaged the youth in various activities and provided platform for youth to discuss topics that are relevant to them. The outh candidly discussed impact they can create in society. Shaykh aood stated that we can create a huge impact by reducing food waste. He showed a video about PA PA a dish made from leftover food that was collected from garbage sites, cleaned and cooked so that people in slumps of Philippine­s can have at least one meal a day. In Canada we take food for granted and waste a lot. :e can have huge impact by stop wasting food in our individual capacity from N2: The youth also discussed approach toward substance and legalizati­on of cannabis. Shaykh aood guided the youth about teaching of Islam on this subject and importance of avoiding things which intoxicate­d the body, mind and harmful for individual and the fellows. More than youths from Burnaby, Surrey and Tri city attended this workshop and expressed desire to have such sessions on an ongoing basis.
