The Miracle

here’s a quick recap of some of 2021’s biggest moments in pop culture:

January: A mob incited by the outgoing president stormed the US Capitol.

Olivia Rodrigo released her hit single which went viral on TikTok. She then later released her album, Sour and was even invited to the White House to encourage young people in America to get vaccinated in July.

February: Reality TV Star Kim Kardashian filed for divorce seeking to amicably end her seven year relationship with rapper, Kanye West. A few months later though, it seems Kanye doesn’t agree with the decision and Kim may have even already moved on with comedian Pete Davidson?

March: Prince Harry and Megan Markle discussed their wedding, relationship, children, and mental health struggles with Oprah Winfrey in a Tell-All interview. They also revealed that there were negative discussions about the skin tone of their firstborn amongst the royal family.

April: Prince Philip passed away just two months before his 100th birthday. And already deep in crisis, millennials saw the rapid change in trends, from middle parts to looser jeans, and felt attacked by the younger Gen Z.

May: The cast of the hit TV show Friends reunited after 17 years at the very sound stage where the show was filmed and were interviewed. David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston also confessed their unrequited love for each other which had fans in a state of… instability

June: Doja Cat released her banger of an album if I do say so myself and Loki, a Marvel series on Disney+ about Thor’s younger brother after the events of Avengers: End Game, came out as well.

July: Canada’s Women Soccer team won gold! And Simone Biles, gymnast, prioritized her well-being over a gold medal and withdrew from the Women’s Gymnastics final. This made her one of the most prominent in a wave of athletes who chose their mental health over powering through for a sporting title.

August: Spider Man co-stars, Tom Holland and Zendaya were rumoured to be in a relationship which was later confirmed, making them the third Peter Parker and MJ/ Gwen to get together in real life. Also, many celebrities announced their disbelief in bathing regularly, leaving the Internet shocked and disgusted.

September: Netflix’s South Korean ‘Squid Game’ went viral and rode the wave of its popularity for almost the entire month. Then, made an appearance as costumes for many towards the end of October. Also, an anti-vaxx sentiment emerged and a significant voice from the group was none other than Nicki Minaj herself.

October: Shah Rukh Khan’s son was arrested and charged under laws related to “possession, consumption, and sale of illegal substances”. He was released on bail at the end of the month but not before his arrest became an inside joke for any and all on the Internet who follow South Asian news. Many famous celebrities also announced breakups including Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, and Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid.

November: This month was a big one for the music industry. Travis Scott’s Astroworld tragedy took place this month, which resulted in several deaths. Adele released an album and Taylor Swift also released the re-recording of her album, Red. As well as the end of Britney Spears’ conservatorship.

December: The Omicron variant made its debut this month and so did Spiderman No Way Home and Hawkeye. The release of the new Spiderman is really bringing out the feminine urge to thirst over Andrew Garfield although that’s nothing new.
