Canadian Muslim Media Club (CMMC) final AGM Held in Taste of lahore
Candian Muslim MediaClub(CMMC) held their first AGM on Jan 29, 2022, which had to be partially deferred to March 1st in order to have the required quorum and full members attendance. On March 1st the deferred AGM was attended by board members and new members of CMMC as well as two prominent members of community as observers, BCMA President Asad Gondal and Ms. Kuljit Kaur from Media Waves.
The meeting began with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Pirzada after which the Gen. Secretary of CCMC Mr. Tarik Kiyani briefed the attendees about the CMMC formation and history. Treasurer Mr. Pirzada provided the of Financial report from Oct 19, 2019 - Feb 12, 2022 which had been previously provided on January 29. President Mr. Naveed Waraich shared success stories of CMMC during Pandemic where CMMC engaged with everyone through Zoom meetings virtually and in person through forums at Surrey Jameah Masjid and Jameh Masjid Aulia Allah fundraising. Among the virtual events were Zoom meetings for Pakistani and Canadian issues as well as tributes to the late A.L. Naumani and Liaqat Ali Bajwa.
At the time of selection of new board, Mr. Naseer Pirzada moved the motion as per his last year’s suggestion that the current Board members should remain elected for two years. He withdrew his own name for President which was nominated by two other board members. The motion was seconded by others. After that, Mr. President Mr. Warraich introduced the new CMMC members and received approval of Directors with their positions on board. CEO at Media Waves Communications Ms. Ashiana Khan was selected as Vice President, Mr. Intikhab Ahmed (DAP) rejoined as VP, Mr. Waqar Farooq Khan (Vancouver with Naveed) joined as a Director and Mr. Rai Ali Abrar from Media Waves joined as a Joint Secretary and Mr. Asim Sarwar (self-production) joined as a Director. After that, Islamophobia in our community was discussed. Mr. Gondal and Ms. Kaur shared their observations about CMMC’s work in the past two years and suggested what to do and how to handle pressure at CMMC in future. After the membership collection drive, CMMC board members discussed other issues of the CMMC and community. The meeting was then adjourned after Duaa for delicious food of Taste of Lahore restaurant.
