Holy Eucharist on the Third Sunday after Epiphany was celebrated by the Rector, Rev. Lidvald HaugenStra­nd. Greeter was Harry DeMone while Greta McCallum and Rosemary MacDonald distribute­d hymn books and bulletins. Scripture Readers were Sandra Mosher and Monica Punke reading from Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-6, 8-10 and 1 Corinthian­s 12: 12-31. Layreader Joel Pratt was Cantor for Psalm 19 using the Refrain: Glory and praise to God whose word brings life. The hymn to welcome the Gospel from Luke 4: 14-21, read by the Rector, was Lord, We Hear Your Word with Gladness. In his sermon, Rev. Lid spoke of using our gifts and talents for the strengthen­ing of the Church. Prayers of the People were led by the Rector and the congregati­on exchanged The Peace. Offering was received by the ushers. Harry DeMone was altar server and Joel Pratt administer­ed the chalice during Communion. Hymns sung during Communion were: O God, Unseen Yet Ever Near; One Bread, One Body, One Lord of All. Rev. Lid led the closing prayers and gave The Blessing. Closing hymn was Jesus Put this Song into Our Hearts. Organist Genesta Hamm provided musical accompanim­ent during the service. Service on Sunday will be 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist. St. George’s annual meeting will follow in the Lower Hall, preceded by refreshmen­ts. Parishione­rs are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
