To submit an item for community calendar, which lists events that happen for local, non-profit organizati­ons, email news@ ngnews.ca or drop it off at The News, 352 East River Road, New Glasgow. Please include a start date and end date with your submission.

Fridays

● Chase the Ace – With entertainm­ent at Pictou Legion, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

● Bingo – New Glasgow Legion. Doors open 6 p.m., 1st mini 7:10, regular games start at 8. Everyone welcome.

● Cribbage – Westville legion, 7:30 p.m. Admission $5. Meat Darts, 8 p.m., cost $4. All welcome.

● Karaoke – Stellarton legion, 8 p.m.-12, $3 per person. Chase the Ace draw during evening.

● Card Party – St Bee’s Church Hall, Westville. Doors open at 7 p.m. Cards start at 7:30 p.m. Cash prizes, plus lunch is served.

● Knitting Circle – The Stellar Knitters, 1 p.m. at Stellarton library, novice and experience­d. Yarn and needles can be supplied or bring your own project.

● Women on Wheels – Pictou library 10 a.m. Senior women enjoying short bike rides, healthy snacks and connecting with others.

● Toddle Time – 10:15-11:15 a.m., Westville Library, ages 18 months-3 years. Stories, songs, games, crafts. To register, 902-3965022.

● Toddle Time – 10:45-11:45 a.m., Stellarton Library, 18 months- 3 years. Stories, songs, fun and games. To register, 902-755-1638. Space is limited.

● Gamers Afterschoo­l – 3-5 p.m., Westville library. Drop in for a gaming session for children ages 8-14.

● Stellar Curling Club – Chase the Ace and open curling 6-8 p.m. Win- ning ticket drawn at 8:15.

● Pre-teen Dance – Pictou legion, 7-9 p.m., ages 5 to 12 yrs. Admission $2. Prizes.

● Family Fun Night – 7:30-10 p.m. at Father’s House Church, J’s Place Entrance, 400 Stewart St., New Glasgow. Snacks and games offered. For more info call Jim Swain at (902) 695-5509.

● Limit Is The Sky – NFB Film Club at River John library, 6:15 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. Bring snacks (peanut-free please), all welcome.

● Soup and Dessert Luncheon – St Bee’s Anglican Church (Helping Hands) Westville 11:30a.m.-1 p.m. Price $8. Takeout available.

● Bag Sale – IODE Nearly New Shop, behind New Glasgow Fire Hall. 1-3:30 p.m. Filled bag for $5.

April 1

● Newfie Night – Stellarton legion, featuring “Lukey’s Boat”. Dance 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Admission $8. Also serving Corned beef and cabbage supper 6-8 p.m. $12 a plate. Takeouts available.

● Auction 45s – at Trenton Legion at 1 p.m.

● Spring Shopping Event – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the North End Recreation Centre. $2 admission. All proceeds going to the North End Playground Project.

● Prize Bingo – 1 to 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, Stellarton. Great prizes. Free coffee/ tea/snacks. Door prizes/50-50. $10 for 3 up - 15 games. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

● Benefit Dance – for Jane MacNeil at Wranglers Bar and Grill, 8 p.m. to midnight. Silent auction, 50-50. Regal Beagle Band performing.

April 2

● Dance – Pictou legion, 6-10 p.m., with Mackie (Dean and Anne Marie MacKenzie). Admission $5.

● Chase the Ace – continues at Trenton Legion and Trenton Fire Hall. Tickets sold at both locations from 2- 4 p.m. with draw to follow. This week’s jackpot is $29,112.50

April 3

● Cemetery AGM – Annual meeting of the Telford Cemetery 7 p.m. in the Sutherland River Community Centre. All lot holders are urged to attend.

● Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary

– Meeting, 1st floor board room 12:30 p.m.

● Community Volunteer Income Tax Program – For low income, simple returns. Stellarton Stellarite Seniors Club 1-4 p.m.

April 5

● Community Playground – 6:30 p.m. at the North End Rec Centre to get community input on a new community playground. Everyone welcome.

● Fabulous Fabric Repurposed – with Marla Cameron, 2:30 p.m. at the Westville library.

● Puppet Show – “Duck & the Key to Every Door” & “Easter Rabbit’s Basket”10:30 a.m. at Pictou library.

● New Glasgow 55+ Club – Meeting 1:30 p.m. in New Glasgow Fire Hall. Free parking for members at meters. Speaker on nutrition. Club loto tree draw will be held. Tickets for lotto tree on sale April 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wal-Mart.

April 6

● Aberdeen Hospital Alumnae Associatio­n – Meeting at 690 East River Rd. in the addiction service- mental health building at 1:30 p.m.
