WEEKLY EVENTS Fridays

● Chase the Ace – at the River John Legion. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets sold 6:30-8:30 p.m. with draw at 9 p.m. Tickets three for $5, seven for $10.00 and 15 for $20. Jackpot started at $2,000. Must be present to win. Music by The Geezer.

● Chase the Ace – With entertainm­ent at Pictou Legion, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

● Cribbage – Westville legion, 7:30 p.m. Admission $5. Meat Darts, 8 p.m., cost $4. All welcome.

● Karaoke – Stellarton legion, 8 p.m.-12, $3 per person. Chase the Ace draw during evening.

● Card Party – St. Bee’s Church Hall, Westville. Doors open at 7 p.m. Cards start at 7:30 p.m. Cash prizes, plus lunch is served.

● Knitting Circle – The Stellar Knitters, 1 p.m. at Stellarton library, novice and experience­d. Yarn and needles can be supplied or bring your own project.

● Women on Wheels – Pictou library 10 a.m. Senior women enjoying short bike rides, healthy snacks and connecting with others.

● Toddle Time – 10:15-11:15 a.m., Westville Library, ages 18 months-3 years. Stories, songs, games, crafts. To register, 902-3965022.

● Gamers Afterschoo­l – 3-5 p.m., Westville library. Drop in for a gaming session for children ages 8-14.

● Stellar Curling Club – Chase the Ace and open curling 6-8 p.m. Winning ticket drawn at 8:15.

● Waulking the Cloth – The History of the Scottish Tradition, 1 p.m., Stellarton Library. May is Gaelic Nova Scotia Month. Presenter Wendy McInnis, from the Pictou County Gaelic Society, will teach one Gaelic milling song during the presentati­on. All are welcome.

● Soup and Dessert Luncheon

– Salem Church Hall, Green Hill, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost $8, takeout available.

● Meat Darts – at Trenton Legion at 7:30 p.m.

● Benefit Dance – for Betsy MacKenzie Cameron at Trenton rink. Featuring Full Circle Blues Band and KVB entertainm­ent at 7 p.m. Silent auction, 50/50 draw and cash bar.

● Variety Supper – in support of the IWK Children’s Hospital will be held at the Toney River Community Hall, from 4-6 p.m. $10/adults, $5/children under 12. Take-outs available.

● Breakfast at St. Columba – 8-11 a.m., 4144 Trafalgar Road, Hopewell. Adults $7, Children $3.

● Embracing the World – 2017 Spiritual Celebratio­n devoted to world humanitari­an, Amma. From 9-9:15 a.m., world peace prayers to be held at Pictou Hector Quay. In the afternoon, the main program will be held from 2-5 p.m. at Northumber­land Regional High School. This free event will include videos, music, meditation, a visit by a swami and vegetarian food.

● East River Pastoral Charge Pot Luck Supper – at Springvill­e Church Hall from 4-6 p.m. Adults $10, children $5. Also pantry table. Take outs available.

● Craft Material and Supplies Sale – at ADE Tri-Lodge, 327 Little Harbour Road, New Glasgow, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All new merchandis­e donated from Michaels.

All proceeds to Pictou County Shrine Club Sick Children’s Travel Fund.

● Mother’s Day Turkey Supper

● Geranium Coffee Party – First Presbyteri­an Church hall, Prince Street, Pictou, 10 a.m. to noon. Admission $7. Pantry table, cheesecake­s by First Friends, books, New-to-You, crafts/fancywork.

● Mother’s Day Lobster Supper

– Sponsored by Bethel Church, Pictou Landing. Tickets available by calling Linda 902-752-6724, cost $15. Pick up 1-3 p.m. Supper includes salad, roll, tomatoes, cucumbers, dessert and 1 pound select lobster.

● Variety Concert – Hosted by the Westville Social Committee at the Westville Town Gym at 7 p.m. Free will offering for Westville Splash Park Fund. Taking part will be Pictou Landing First Nation Dancers; Piper Tyler Cameron; Singer Darren Murphy; Pictou County Highland Dancers; Drum Group; and more to be added.

● Cleanup Day – 9 a.m. at French River Cemetery and Hall. Bring your rakes, shovels and clippers.

● Community Dance – at West Branch Community Hall. R&R and Classic Country with Geezer. 8 p.m. to midnight, admission, $7. Lunch break. Proceeds to West Branch Hall.

● Drive 4UR School – at Highland Ford, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. For every test drive taken, Ford of Canada will donate $20 to NRHS. This event will give Northumber­land Regional High School the opportunit­y to raise money for various programs within their school community. Barbecue on site as well.

● Auction 45s – at Trenton Legion at 1 p.m.

May 14

● Arisaig Lobster Dinner – Arisaig Hall, Hwy. 245, Antigonish County, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Quarter-pound fresh lobster meat, salads, roll or biscuit, pie or strawberry sundae, beverage. Takeouts and ham also available. Adults $17, children 12 and under $8. Deliveries – Dolorosa, 902-863-5304.

● Mother’s Day Dance – 6-10 p.m. with Robert Simpson at Pictou Legion. Admission $5.

● Chase the Ace – at Trenton Community Rink and Trenton Legion. Tickets sold at both locations from 2-4 p.m. with draw to follow at the rink. This week’s jackpot is $48,782.00. 19 cards remaining. Bar and canteen facilities available.
