Born in Half Way Cove, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Sarah (Bond).

She had an amazing sense of humour, a contagious laugh, and was happiest with a house full of people, especially if they were willing to have a game of cards! Her door was always open, and she helped many during their times of need.

Ruby will be sadly missed by her husband, John Basker; daughter, Ellen; son, Wayne (Tanya); grandchildren: Michael (Tammy), Dara (Shawn), Sarah, Jessica and Dalton; great-grandchildren: Gavin, Abby, Khloe, Michael and Nick; two greatgreat grandchildren.

She was especially close to her brother-in-law, Sonny Eaton; cousins, Francis, Barb (Charlie) and their grandson, Tristan, who affectionately knew Ruby as “Honey Bun”; stepson, “Uncle Paul”; nieces, Carol and Margie; nephew, Russell; friends, Minerva Chisholm, Peter Anderson and Doreen Collie.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters: Edith, Emma, Nettie, Beulah, Estella, Florence and Mae; brother, Lawrence.

Special thank you’s are extended to Dr. T. Park, and his receptionist Cathy, Kevin MacKay and the staff at Medical Hall Pharmacy, the VON and nurses on 4N at the Aberdeen.

By Ruby’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and internment will be in July at the St. James the Martyr Cemetery in Half Way Cove. Family only. Donations may be made in Ruby’s memory to the family.
