Mittens in need of a forever home

I have to tell you, when SPCA Pictou sent me over the photos of Ms. Mittens I was somewhat taken aback by what I saw.

To say she is photogenic is an understatement; the patience with having multiple photos taken (in different settings, no less) is pretty impressive. This cat lady could, and should be an Instagram star.

So what kind of personality does a doll like this have? First and foremost, she is a total love bug. One of those super sweet kitties you cannot help but fall in love with…after they have pulled you in with their huge green, inviting eyes.

As with most ladies of a certain style and age, she does like to enjoy calm moments with her special someone, snuggling into, or just sitting quietly contemplating life while you read. Sometimes she just likes to get up and walk around seeing if there is anything new to smell, or if anyone new has moved into the neighbourhood. She does not seem to really be into toys or catnip, but she is into being social and adorable by giving loving head butts.

Mittens is 9, but a young and vibrant 9. As I look at her photos, I am trying to figure out if her 8.9 lbs. is mostly cat or hair. Mittens is not a fan of extensive brushing, so a proper once-over will do with helping keep her long hair mat free.

Ms. Mittens was an owner surrender after her parent had to move to a home where kitty friends are not allowed. Mittens had a tough go making the transition from beloved feline to homeless kitty, even refusing to eat. Once she was moved into a more open area, where she was always free to walk about and inspect, she began eating again. That she likes to be active does not mean she wants to go outside. In fact she cannot go outsideshe never has been. She still misses her mum, so having someone to nurture her would be awesome.

She is not a fan of other cats, and I would think that dogs would be the same. Did I mention she is a fan of having her photo taken?

Do not let Ms. Mittens age throw you off, this girl is going to make a pawesome BFF. Nine is really not that old.
