DEAR READERS,
Welcome to our new format. As you can see when you hold today’s paper, it’s bigger than the tabloid product you’ve been reading for more than a decade. Today’s edition of The News has been printed on Salt-Wire Network’s best-in-class press. With this change comes a new format with a print quality that is secondto-none. We know that, like us, you’ve seen a lot of changes in newspapers over the years. While some of those changes were for the better, we know there were some that weren’t. There have been times when we’ve had to cut columns or other pieces of the newspaper you liked in order to meet the bottom line. But we have new ownership now and a new vision for the future. This is the first of many improvements you’ll see in the coming months. One of the things we as journalists love about the bigger page size is that it will give us more freedom to create interesting and engaging storytelling. Readers will enjoy great photography showcased in a larger format. It will also allow for more community photo pages. You will notice an increase in graphics, new features and columns. From a business perspective, our advertisers will reap the benefit of larger print space to get their messages across. We hope that you can join us in celebrating this move and the future possibilities it brings. In the days ahead, watch for more local content, new voices and news of investments that we’ll be making in our community as we work to be essential to you, our readers.
Sincerely, Adam MacInnis Newsroom Manager
