Eric Eldon Redmond of Linacy passed away Aug. 22, 2017.

Eric was a son of Charles and Marie (Pierce) Redmond. He was born May 31, 1963 in Ontario.

He loved life, the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He attended Summer Street Industries, where he enjoyed meeting new friends and playing sports such as bowling and floor hockey. Eric loved music and spent many hours listening to his favourite artist, Johnny Cash. He also participat­ed in the Special Olympics, where he won many different medals.

Eric’s favourite past time was to go to Tim’s, where he would meet new people and make new friends instantly while enjoying a cup of coffee or two.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his brothers: Whitney (Kim); Jimmy (Terry); Matthew (Adele); Charlie (Robyn); George (Amanda); and his only sister, Cindy (Pat). Eric was much more than an uncle to his many nieces and nephews: Tyler, Lindsay and Alana, Pam and Tonya, Nathan and Riley, Tyson and Dustin, Brandon and Patrick, Jacob and Hope. Missing him will be his many aunts and uncles and great nieces and nephews.

He was predecease­d by his grandparen­ts, Jim and Coletta Pierce and Whit and Effie Redmond; his uncle, Jimmy (Pierce) and Doug (Redmond). Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Donations in Eric’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the IWK or Summer Street Industries.
