MEGAthon coming to YMCA on April 14

-

The YMCA will see participants flexing their community muscles with the first-ever YMCA MEGAthon.

This high-energy event will offer eight hours or exercise, from water walking, to cycle fit, to strength classes, to aqua fitness, among other activities. It will take place April 14 and participants will be asked to collect pledges to help out with the fundraiser.

“You set your own challenge. You can participate in one class or more,” said Marla Sim, the health, fitness and recreation director at the Y.

“All skill levels are welcome. There will also be exciting new programming, including group power and pound classes.”

Each hour there will be a class in the gymnasium, in the pool area, and in the cycle fit studio. YMCA instructors will lead the group through lively sessions. DJ Gene Mills from Foxy Entertainment will be at the Y to add

energy to the atmosphere. Child care will be provided by YMCA staff at its on-site Child Care location.

“Funds raised from the MEGAthon will go to supporting YMCA programming in our community,” said YMCA’s

Heidi Sinclair.

“Programs such as: Youth Leadership; Y on the Move; Youth Tutoring; and the more than $200,000 in after school, day camp and membership assistance are supported through events like the MEGAthon.”

Participants can register now at the YMCA Membership Services for $25, which includes a MEGAthon shirt and snacks throughout the day.

Prize draws will be available for participants that raise more than $100 in pledges.
