• Self esteem – Pictou County Women’s Resource and Sexual Assault Centre is offering a self esteem course for women. Call the Centre, 902-755-4647 to indicate whether day or evening would be preferable and which topics would be of interest to you.

• Get your GED – Free classes for those who want to improve their reading skills or obtain their GED offered by Pictou County Continuous Learning Associatio­n. Must be 19 years of age or over and have been out of school for more than one year. Register at 485-7014 or 755-5827 for classes starting the week of Sept. 24. Choose the class that suits you best – morning classes in Pictou, morning or full time classes in New Glasgow or an evening class at the NSCC in Stellarton.

• Art in the Hall 4 – until Dec 7, 2018 This is the fourth in a series of rotating installati­ons of art by Pictou County artists. Curated by the Art At Large Collective, this show features six new and emerging artists. Free admission to view the show. Museum of Industry, Stellarton.

• Kid’s section – Lego Builders Club at the Museum of Industry Stellarton, Tuesdays 3 to 4 p.m. Ages 5 & older. Free admission, no pre-registrati­on required.

OCTOBER 18

• Regular General Meeting – of Branch #29, RCL, Trenton at 7 p.m.

• Regular Monthly Meeting – of the Pictou County Prostate Cancer Support Associatio­n will be held at 7 p.m. in the UCT Building behind Summer Street Ind on Park Street New Glasgow. The public is invited to attend. The building is wheelchair accessible. Social will follow.

• Legion Meeting – Br 28 Stellarton Legion will be held at 7:30 p.m. All members please attend.

OCTOBER 19

• Family Round and Square Dance –at St. Mary’s Parish Hall - Hwy 245 Maryvale, Antigonish Co. from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. Music provided by Shelly Campbell and guest. Admission: $10. Children 12 and under free when accompanie­d by an adult. Tea and sweets provided.

OCTOBER 20

• Auction 45’s – at Trenton Legion at 1 p.m.

• Roast Pork Dinner – Sponsored by Durham Ladies Guild and Durham Church Congregati­on, 4-6 p.m. at Durham Church Hall. Adults: $12. Children 10 and under: $5. Pantry table. Take outs available.

• Roast Beef Dinner – 4-6 p.m. at Plymouth Fire Hall. Cost is $12. Eat in or take outs available. For tickets call: 902-752-8657.

• Variety Concert – hosted by the Little Harbour Ladies Fire Auxiliary which is celebratin­g 40 years of service to their Fire Dept. and community, at the Little Harbour Community Centre at 7 p.m. Local talent, open bar, munchies, 50/50 draw. Admission is a freewill offering and everyone is welcome.

• Sharon St. John Fall Fair –Acadia Ave., Stellarton, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Turkey burgers, quilts, bake table, lots of activities.

• Pictou Presbyteri­al of Atlantic Mission Society Fall Rally – at First Presbyteri­an Church, New Glasgow. Executive meeting at 1 p.m. Rally begins at 2 p.m. Fellowship will follow. Please use MacLean street entrance.

• For The Cross Quartet – a Southern Gospel Quartet, based out of Moncton perform at Merigomish United Church at 3 p.m. Admission at the door $10. with proceeds to further the work of the church.

• Anniversar­y Pancake & Sausage Breakfast – hosted by The Men of St Andrew’s Presbyteri­an Church, New Glasgow from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Ladies of St Andrew’s will have a bake sale. $7 per person - $20 for a family of four or more.
