Pentz hat trick helps Scotians beat Leafs

TRENTON, N.S. — Jacob Pentz scored three goals as the Pictou County Scotians beat the Valley Maple Leafs 6-1 on Nov. 4. Colin Holmes, Briden Hawes and Cory McCrudden also had goals for the Scotians (7-3), who have won four games in a row and five of their past six.

It was the third time in the past four games that Pentz has recorded a hat trick; he leads the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League with 15 goals. Holmes, Robert Burrows and Logan Vandemeera­kker all helped set up a pair of goals and Matt Murray made 45 saves in the Scotians net. Vandemeera­kker’s 20 assists leads the NSJHL.

Pictou County will play the Eskasoni Junior Eagles Nov. 10 in Cape Breton, and will welcome the Liverpool Privateers to Trenton rink the next night for a 6 p.m. game.
