Good people came to assistance

-

To the editor:

My wife and I attended the Remembrance Day services in Westville. She joined the large crowd and I joined a group of Masons from Western Star Lodge. Within a few minutes I fainted. My double brother David Parker caught me. I was unconscious for a short time. When I awoke there was a Mountie saying Donnie, can you hear me?

My masonic brother Frank Gammell found my wife and she joined me in the rescue truck. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the individuals who came to my assistance.

The emergency room physician at the Aberdeen Hospital told me my heart slowed down which caused my blood pressure to drop to 56 which caused me to pass out. They kept me on a heart monitor overnight and let me go home in the morning.

I would like to thank all the health-care individuals at the hospital and the paramedics who gave me excellent care.

The first responders and police officers did an excellent job at the cenotaph.

I was very lucky there were three off-duty paramedics who came to my assistance. They asked Barb and I all kinds of questions. They checked my pulse which was weak. They checked my blood pressure and it was so low when I was sitting, I thought I was going to faint again, so they go me to lay down where it went up to 100.

One of the paramedics was Gordie Chenell, but I don’t know the names of the other off-duty paramedics. Barb and I really appreciate everything they did for me.

It is great to know that all these good people will come to your assistance when you really need them. We live in a great community.

Thanks again,

Donnie Parker
