On Sunday, it was a battle of two undefeated team at the top of the standings as the Selects travelled to Bedford to face the Station Six Fire, who are in second place in league standings. The Selects had the early edge in play but spotted a 2-0 lead to the Fire, before closing the gap in the second on a goal by Natalie MacKay.

Ella MacLean tied it 2-2 and then Wornell gave the Selects their first lead. Cassie Clarke added another to take a 4-2 lead into the third period.

Pitts added an empty netter for the fifth unanswered goal of the game by the Selects to take the 5-2 win.

The two teams meet again Saturday at 4 p.m. in Truro in the continuing battle for first place.

The Selects are back at home on Sunday when they face the Penguins at the Pictou County Wellness Center at 12:15 p.m.
