Westville police warn of fake $20 bills

-

Canadian bills are showing up in the community and Westville police are telling members of the public to be wary.

One was found on Spring Garden Road this summer and another recently showed up in circulation within the past two weeks. The bill is printed on plain photocopier paper and has no hologram on the bill. A solid grey blotch replaces the hologram. Also, there is Chinese writing on the bill.

Police say the bill is not a replica of the original bill, but can easily be mistaken when there is legitimate currency with it. The colours are correct.

Particularly when people are exchanging a lot of money over the holiday season, they say it’s important for people to be on the lookout.
