Sco­tians set to play twice against Bull­dogs

TREN­TON, N.S. — The Strait Pi­rates showed the Pic­tou County Sco­tians they still have some work to do. The Sco­tians, who had won six of seven games, were swept in a Nova Scotia Ju­nior Hockey League home­and-home set with Strait this past week­end; they were over­whelmed by a 9-1 mar­gin on Nov. 30 in Port Hawkes­bury (Jeremy McFar­lane had the only goal for Pic­tou County), then two nights later at Tren­ton arena, the Pi­rates beat them 4-1. Lo­gan Vande Meer­akker scored for the lone goal for Pic­tou County af­ter the Pi­rates had built a 4-0 lead. Pic­tou County plays the Antigo­nish Bull­dogs this com­ing week­end be­fore the league takes a break un­til Jan­uary. Pic­tou County is at Antigo­nish on Fri­day, then hosts the Bull­dogs Sun­day night in Tren­ton at 6 p.m.

The Sco­tians (11-6) are in sec­ond place in the Sid Rowe Divi­sion with 22 points, two ahead of both Antigo­nish and the Glace Bay Min­ers, and 11 points back of the fron­trun­ning Pi­rates (16-1-1).
