Scotians set to play twice against Bulldogs
TRENTON, N.S. — The Strait Pirates showed the Pictou County Scotians they still have some work to do. The Scotians, who had won six of seven games, were swept in a Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League homeand-home set with Strait this past weekend; they were overwhelmed by a 9-1 margin on Nov. 30 in Port Hawkesbury (Jeremy McFarlane had the only goal for Pictou County), then two nights later at Trenton arena, the Pirates beat them 4-1. Logan Vande Meerakker scored for the lone goal for Pictou County after the Pirates had built a 4-0 lead. Pictou County plays the Antigonish Bulldogs this coming weekend before the league takes a break until January. Pictou County is at Antigonish on Friday, then hosts the Bulldogs Sunday night in Trenton at 6 p.m.
The Scotians (11-6) are in second place in the Sid Rowe Division with 22 points, two ahead of both Antigonish and the Glace Bay Miners, and 11 points back of the frontrunning Pirates (16-1-1).
