Peewee A Crushers remain undefeated

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – The Pictou County Peewee A Crushers hockey club stayed undefeated on the season, with a sweep of the Antigonish Bulldogs last weekend.

On Sunday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, the Crushers blanked the Bulldogs 10-0, with Noah LaradeMacD­onald picking up the shutout. Scoring for the Crushers were Griffin Horton (4), Harley Clark (2), Cole Bryden (2), Chris Jorden (1) and Cameron Pitts (1). Assists went to Jack MacNeil (2), Cole Miller (2), Horton (2), Bryden (2), Kaleb MacEachern (2) and Jorden, Blake Misener, Ryan Galway, and Caden Hawes with one helper each. On Saturday in Antigonish, the Crushers defeated the Bulldogs 8-1. Austin Swain got the win in nets for the Crushers. Scoring for the Crushers were Jorden (3), Bryden, Galway, Horton, MacNeil and Leland Tobin with one each. Assists went to Bryden (3), Horton (1), Ethan Barker (1), Cameron Pitts (1) and Cole Miller (1). The Crushers will face Truro this weekend in league action.

Atom AA Selects get two weekend ties

TRENTON, N.S. – The Subway Selects picked up two points in two games against Metro Force Red this past weekend in Atom AA girls hockey action.

The first game was held at the BMO Centre in Halifax on Saturday that ended with a 1-1 tie. Scoring the lone goal early in the first was Sophie Hatchard, with assists by Chloe Ferguson and Delaney Dean. The second game was held in Trenton on Sunday, with the teams skating to a scoerless draw. Kenli Ross got the shutout, facing 34 shots.
