Woman dies after snowmobile crash

ENFIELD, N.S. — A 25-year-old Nova Scotia woman has died following a snowmobile crash on Sutherland Lake in Cumberland County.

Oxford RCMP say they responded to a 911 call at 6:20 p.m. Friday night, not far from the Cobequid Pass toll plaza on Highway 104. Police say a woman from Enfield, N.S., died near the scene after being thrown from the vehicle.

They say an adult male passenger was also thrown as a result of the snowmobile crash but was not injured.

The Mounties say an initial investigation indicates the snowmobile struck a piece of land on the lake while visibility was low due to white-out conditions.

The investigation is ongoing.
